Let us guide you through your Scottish golf adventure

We’d be organising golf trips to Scotland even if it wasn’t our job. Thats what we did before Halcyon Golf Travel officially began selling bespoke Scotland golf packages in 2018. In fact, we still offer free advice to golfers planning overseas adventures, all for the love of exploration.

You may not have realised it yet, but you’re on our website because you’re an explorer, or at least about to become one. You aren’t travelling half way across the globe just to play golf, you could do that at home. You crave the unknown. Not just “a different golf course”, but a different way of enjoying the game. Different turf. Different shots. Different people. Different tastes. Different smells. Golf in Scotland is different, and we’re here to guide you every step of the way.

This 2 week England Golf trip with my 2 sons was a trip of a lifetime thanks to Jack & his company Halcyon golf travel. His attention to details is superb! His arrangement of tee times, accommodations, car hire were spot on. I had an initial call with Jack to give him my vision of what I was looking for in this golf trip. Within a few days, he took my vision and made it a reality! Jack is top shelf and I would highly recommend him to anyone who wants a fantastic hassle free golf trip to some of the most magnificent golf courses in the World! In fact, I have Jack already working on my next golf trip to Scotland & Ireland for 2025.

Jack planned an unforgettable Scotland golf trip for our group of 8 buddies. Being first-time golfers in Scotland, we relied heavily on Jack's invaluable advice as our objective was to make the most of our time in the country. Our goal was to play as many of the Open courses as possible within our groups budget. His recommendations enabled us to indulge in certain aspects while being mindful of our expenses. An example was playing Trump Turnberry. Jack suggested staying in the cost-effective cottages at Dundonald Links, which then allowed us to allocate more funds towards a stay at the Rusacks Hotel in St. Andrews. This simple piece of advice allowed us to stay within our budget while still enjoying the courses we had set out to play. I think the best way to utilize Jack’s service is to set a budget, a wish list of courses, and a few dates. From there, Jack will take over and set you up with the perfect itinerary. I highly recommend Jack and his service. Michael from Arizona.

My second trip to Scotland planned by Jack at Halcyon Golf Travel! 8 guys and no issues! Customized to our needs. Jack’s support through the Covid delays and requirements was excellent and we never felt at risk. His lodging, course and restaurant recommendations were superb! Will never forget Jack bringing his hickory clubs to Kilspindee and the closest to the pin challenge! First class service and just a spectacular trip! Thanks Jack!

Jack crafted a world class experience for my clients and I. Everything from ease of process to quality restaurant selection and general St Andrews guidance was top notch. He also had the added complexity of managing reschedules and changes due to COVID which he navigated for us flawlessly. Highly recommend

What to expect from a Scotland golf tour?

North Berwick West Links

Scotland boasts 20% of the worlds top 20 courses, but what's more impressive is the variety of tracks here. Your golf trip to Scotland is likely to include golf courses with over 200 years of history, as well as courses no older than your putter.!...

This provides a great mix of architectural style and different challenges depending on where you play. The Old Course is a prime example of complex, old-fashioned architecture. Its unique bunkers and masterful, enormous green complexes make it more of a puzzle than a golf course. New courses such as Dumbarnie and Castle Stuart have benefited from modern technology to mould the land. Designers have been able to capitalize on the beautiful sea views and impressive ground undulation to create some of the most enjoyable golf courses in the world. The home of golf is the gift that keeps on giving.

The best links golf courses in Scotland are conveniently located in regional clusters, which are outlined above. We recommend visiting two of these clusters for a 7-day golf trip to Scotland. If you’re feeling adventurous, we can carefully plan you a golf tour of Scotland to see the best of Scottish golf in one trip.

We understand that every customer is looking for a different Scottish golf experience and luckily Scotland has something for everyone. You can be escorted by a private driver or pilot on your luxury golf vacation to Scotland. Stay in 5* resorts such as Trump Turnberry and eat at Michelin star restaurants. On the other end of the spectrum you can explore for yourself with a self drive option. Stay in tried and tested bed and breakfasts, play some hidden gems and share a pint with a local.

As well as guaranteed tee times at the best courses in the world such as Royal Dornoch and North Berwick, we can plan cultural experiences for you as well. Visit a distillery to see how the local single malt whisky is made, or enjoy a private tasting from one of the rarest whisky collections in the world. Step back in time and visit one of the hundreds of castles that remain in Scotland. Immerse yourself with locals at one of The Highland Games, or visit The Edinburgh Fringe festival, one of the biggest celebrations of art in the world.

Why arrange a golf trip to Scotland?

Golf was first documented in 1457 in Scotland and since then over 500 golf courses have been built in the country. So whether its old school, quirky links courses such as Royal Dornoch, St Andrews and North Berwick, or perfectly manicured inland courses such as Gleneagles and Loch Lomond, there’s a golf experience for everyone in Scotland. Take advantage of a Halcyon Golf Travel director to help suggest the best courses to play in Scotland based on your interests, ability and budget.

If budget isn’t an issue, having a driver guide for the duration of your golf trip to Scotland is the best option. This gives you the freedom to explore with a local to show you the sights, and no need to worry about drink driving. Self drive vehicles are a budget friendly alternative that still provides freedom to explore. If you don’t fancy driving on the left side of the road, then pre-booked daily transfers are the next best budget friendly alternative. For the ultimate luxury golf tour of Scotland, we can arrange helicopter transfers between golf courses.

The best time of year for Scotland golf vacations is from May to September. These are the warmest months with the best playing conditions. Although slightly cooler, April and October provide perfectly fine playing conditions and are quieter months to visit. If you don’t mind the cold, links golf courses are perfect for winter as the ground drains so well, meaning you can play year round. One thing to remember is the weather in Scotland can be unpredictable, so always bring your waterproofs.

Yes. One of the benefits of booking with Halcyon Golf Travel is getting a passionate, local golfer to take care of you whilst in Scotland.
